Small acts.
Clear thinking.
Better systems.

A design practice exploring how change really happens inside complex organisations - through content, services and the systems we work within.

We focus on the moments that matter: the words, decisions and small acts that quietly influence behaviour, unblock work and shift culture.

What this space is for

This is a space for writing, thinking and shared creative work.

Most of our time is spent working in public service roles, so we don’t take on long delivery projects. Instead, we use this practice to explore ideas, develop new work and share what we're learning.

We’re open to small, focused collaborations when the fit is right.

Small acts that shift culture:
a newsletter experiment

Complex organisations run on culture as much as process, technology and people’s skills.

Small acts can shift how teams behave. Moments of clarity can unblock work that feels stuck. Specific decisions, repeated over time, quietly normalise new ways of working.

In 2026, we’re running an experiment. We’ll share brief essays about the patterns we notice and the simple ways we’ve tested to respond to them. Each piece is a short reflection: a pattern, a moment, an observation.

We hope to turn this work into a book: a practical guide to small acts that help you move culture, influence complex systems and get work unblocked.

Read Small acts of maintenance if you'd like a sense of what's coming.

Subscribe to follow the experiment as it develops.

Thanks!

Writing and projects

We write about content, services, trust, systems and the messy work of making things better.

We’re also beginning new creative work, including a book we’ll shape in public through our monthly letters. More to come.

Collaboration

When it makes sense, we enjoy working together on small, focused pieces of work: conversations, reviews or short sessios that help people see things more clearly.

Most of our time is spend working in public service roles, so we do not take on long delverey projects. Instead, we focus on bounded thoughtful collaborations where a short intervention can make a difference.
